ELITE Swiftwater Institute

Our mission is to prepare swiftwater rescuers for the mental and physical challenges inherent to water and rope rescues. 

The ELITE Swiftwater Institute is based in West Virginia, along the New River Gorge. The Institute has been recognized by WV Congressman Nick Rahall for its efforts in training and preparing our nation’s military personnel, fire rescue technicians, first responders, and professional and recreational boatman for swiftwater and rope rescue operations. 

The Rescue 3 International curriculum taught by Elite’s highly qualified and experienced rescue instructors meets National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) standards and has been approved for Fire Service Credit by the State of West Virginia’s Fire Commission and is formally recognized in the states of CA, DL, MD, OR, RI, and VA.

 

Swiftwater rescuers Coupled with ELITE's state of the art curriculum and professional instruction, our home of the New River Gorge area offers an ideal environment and extreme “classroom” for training courses of this nature. With several world-class rivers and miles of cliff-band, the Gorge is a premiere location for flood simulation as well as high angle rope training.
